March 4th Approaches: Celebrating the formal launch of Community.CoreWeb.Com
CoreWeb will formally launch its community.coreweb.com web site on March 4, 2010. This is an exciting event for our team and partners. A "first-of-its-kind" on the web, CoreWeb has worked hard for the last few years to make this vision come to life. We’ve created a community, for community-building professionals that focuses on helping nonprofits better engage their base of loyal supporters.
You know-- more donations, more volunteering, more advocacy, more attending events, more education and knowledge sharing, and more recruitment. We have pragmatic tips and tools to help. And we will convene and encourage conversations on the challenging work of building a thriving community. This will be the new home for dedicated professionals to share best practices around how to more meaningfully engage with supporters.
Over the last few years, CoreWeb has been methodically researching hundreds of nonprofits and sharing examples and case studies of successful engagement. Based upon our findings, we have what we believe are some compelling tools to steer strategic planning and pragmatic tactical action steps on “how to raise the level of supporter participation” and even more importantly, “how to find leaders” within an organization's base of support who can step forward and play an even greater role in reaching full impact. Come join the conversation!
Why March 4? It's the anniversary of the creation of the City of Chicago (173 years ago). Now, that might seem odd coming from someone who was raised in NYC. So what is the connection to CoreWeb’s work? Well, CoreWeb developed a new framework and methodology that looks to both real-world and online community building success stories. It turns out that Chicago is an amazing example of attracting and growing a real-world community. What was a small town of fewer than 300 settlers in 1833, grew to be almost 2 million inhabitants by 1900; the fastest growing city in a seventy year period in the history of our human civilization.
As we celebrate the formal launch of community.coreWeb.com this spring, we look forward to hearing feedback on our work. As always, all comments are welcome.
John Whalen is CEO/President of CoreWeb, Inc.

Speaking of March 4! I
Speaking of March 4! I noticed that CARE has a huge nationwide theatre event coming up on March 4th supporting "Half the Sky LIVE". You can find out information about this event at www.halftheskylive.com. This film chronicles the struggles of an Ethiopian woman who triumphs over violence and discrimination.
