John P. Whalen
(CEO/President)
  John Whalen is currently President and CEO (as well as Chairman of the Board of Directors).  John co-founded CoreWeb in 2001.  CoreWeb focuses on strategic business consulting and helping client partners reach their potential through the best utilization of web technologies (with both Fortune 500 and large non-profit clients).  Under John's leadership, CoreWeb has also created a new full service social networking and Web 2.0 community platform that is coupled with CoreWeb's original thought leadership around growing successful communities of supporters or customers.

Prior to joining CoreWeb, John was a foreign service officer at the U.S. Department of State from 1994 to 2000 serving as a refugee officer in Guinea; a consular officer in Ecuador; an economics and political officer in New Zealand; a volunteer peacekeeper in Kosovo; and as an operations officer for Secretary Albright in Washington, D.C. From 1992-1994, John was a Vice President at International Strategies, a Boston-based management consulting firm where he helped design and manage an business information product and database with in-depth coverage of trade issues for 78 countries that served AT&T and Business Week and UPS customers (pre-Internet days). John is a recipient of the New York City Urban Fellowship where he worked for Mayor Ed Koch’s administration in 1986 at the Mayor’s Office of Operations where he helped set and monitor key performance indicators across city programs, and later worked for the Speaker of the City Council covering environmental and education issues. John attended New York University earning a B.A. in Computer Science and Mathematics in 1985 and also completed his MSFS degree (Masters of Science in Foreign Service) at Georgetown University’s Walsh Graduate School of Foreign Service in 1992 with a concentration in International Trade. John has had extended travel to over forty countries (and all seven continents).  He has lived in Guinea, Ecuador, Japan, New Zealand, and Germany during periods of his career. He currently resides in Newburyport, Massachusetts.
 
 
John F. Hutchinson
(Chief Operating Officer
VP Project Management & Client Services)
  John Hutchinson is COO and VP of Project Management & Client Services. John helps CoreWeb's clients bring their social media potential to life, and also leads CoreWeb's development team. He joined CoreWeb in 2006 and brings over 16 years' experience in delivering integrated technology and marketing solutions.

John was a VP Management Supervisor at Arnold Worldwide in Boston from 2002 through 2006, leading teams of developers, designers and account managers in the production of digital marketing work for clients such as Teradata, Goodyear, and Fidelity Investments. Before joining Arnold, John was VP, Internet Services at Directech, Inc., a full service Internet direct marketing agency headquartered in Burlington, MA. At Directech, John developed results-oriented marketing programs for clients such as Sun, RSA Security, Bell Atlantic and 3Com. John has an MBA from Babson College's Olin School of Business. He also graduated Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude from Skidmore College with a BA in Anthropology.



 
 

Erin A. Murphy
(Community Researcher)


Erin Anastasia-Murphy is a Community Researcher on the CoreWeb team. Currently working primarily in the "Reviews" section of the CoreWeb Thriving Community website, Erin used the Coreweb community building philosophy to help create a research model and template for written reviews of nonprofit websites already in existence.

A recent graduate of the University of Vermont, Erin holds a B.A. in both English and History, earning honors in both majors, as well as being inducted into the Alpha Psi Psi chapter of the Phi Alpha Theta National Council for history scholars. She has had two pieces of short fiction published, both in The Vantage Point Literary Journal-- The House (Fall/Winter 2008) and Jordi (Spring/Summer 2009).  The latter being a piece conceived during time spent abroad, studying at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, in Barcelona, Spain.  Now residing on the North Shore, Erin is excited to be working with, and writing for, non-profit organizations as a member of CoreWeb.


 
 
Meg Savin
(Community Researcher)
  Meg Savin is excited to have recently joined the CoreWeb team as a Community Researcher.  Meg is currently supporting CoreWeb’s outreach efforts to engage with cause-related organizations interested in growing more vibrant and impactful communities.

Prior to joining CoreWeb, Meg spent a year working as an Editorial Assistant at Routledge, Taylor and Francis in New York.  She also completed editorial internships at the publisher Farrar, Straus and Giroux and Tango Media. She received her B.A. from Colgate University in 2006 with a concentration in English literature.  Most recently, Meg took six months to work and travel around South Australia and is now happily settled in the Boston-area.  Meg is thrilled to be a contributing member of the endlessly creative CoreWeb team.
